Eight Sunset Restaurants in Paros Worth the Table

A sunset dinner in Paros should be one of the great pleasures of a Greek summer. The light here is extraordinary — warm and golden and long, lasting well past nine in July. The best restaurants on the island understand this and have built their experience around it.

These are the eight we return to every season.

1. Levantis, Parikia

The best restaurant on the island, and one of the best in the Cyclades. Levantis occupies a beautiful old house in the old town of Parikia, and the kitchen produces food that is genuinely creative without being self-conscious. The menu changes with the season. The wine list is serious. Book well in advance.

2. Barbarossa, Naoussa

Barbarossa sits right on the water in Naoussa harbour, and the view of the fishing boats and the old Venetian castle is as good as it gets. The food is traditional Greek — grilled fish, fresh seafood, excellent mezze — executed with care and consistency. Come for the whole evening.

3. Soso, Naoussa

Soso is the kind of restaurant that makes you feel like a local. Small, unpretentious, and consistently excellent. The kitchen focuses on Cycladic ingredients — local cheese, island capers, fish caught that morning — and the result is food that tastes like it belongs here.

4. Tamarisko, Naoussa

A garden restaurant tucked into the backstreets of Naoussa. Tamarisko has been one of the island's best restaurants for years, and it has not lost its edge. The menu is Mediterranean with strong Greek roots, the service is warm, and the garden setting is one of the most beautiful on the island.

5. Yemeni, Parikia

Yemeni is a sunset institution. The terrace faces west over the sea, and the light in the evening is spectacular. The food is good Greek taverna cooking — nothing revolutionary, but everything done well. Come for the view, stay for the wine.

6. Porphyra, Parikia

A fish restaurant in the old town that takes its sourcing seriously. The fish is local, the preparation is simple, and the results are consistently excellent. This is the kind of place that reminds you why Greek seafood has the reputation it does.

7. Ephesus, Naoussa

Ephesus is the outlier on this list — a Turkish-Greek fusion restaurant that should not work as well as it does. The kitchen is confident and the flavours are bold. The terrace has a good view of the harbour. An excellent choice for a long, unhurried dinner.

8. Glafkos, Santa Maria

The furthest from the main towns and the most worth the drive. Glafkos sits above Santa Maria beach and the view north across the Aegean is extraordinary at sunset. The food is straightforward grilled fish and mezze, but the setting elevates everything.
